On Sunday, May 4th, 7 PM in the Garvin Theater at Santa Barbara City College, orchestral works will be performed by the Santa Barbara City College orchestra. Tickets can be purchased at the Garvin Theater Box Office and are $20.00 for general admission and $10.00 for seniors and students. The Garvin Theater is located on the West campus of SBCC in the 900 block of Cliff Drive. Parking is free in the nearby student parking lots. Tickets can also be purchased online through sbccmusic.com.
The theme of the concert is women composers. Works by American classical music composers Lucy Simon, Mary Howe, Emma Lous Diemer, Beverly Van Wingerden and Sally Ghizzoni will be played along with works by French composers Augusta Holmes, Lili Boulanger (originally a violin and piano piece orchestrated by Cody Anderson) and Welsh composer Grace Williams.
The SBCC orchestra is a combination of community members and SBCC students. James Mooy is the director of this orchestra and will be conducting.
