Science Pub: California Condor

The California Condor is a worldwide symbol of wildlife conservation. A binational recovery partnership including key local players rescued the species from the brink of extinction, with a low of just 22 individuals in the 1980s. There are now over 550, with more than half flying free in parts of California, Arizona, Utah, and Baja California, Mexico. Yet challenges to species recovery remain. Join Santa Barbara Zoo Director of Conservation & Science Estelle Sandhaus, Ph.D., to learn more about this magnificent species that share your backyard. Dr. Sandhaus will explain what you can do to help condors thrive, as well as some surprising new insights on pair bonding and parental care.
