California is a wonderland for the small and scaly beasts we call lizards, yet most people ignore them as background noise. Emily Taylor, Ph.D., of California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo) cures our collective “sauroblivion” in her recent book, California Lizards and How To Find Them. Dr. Taylor—who delighted us in May 2024 with Science Pub: The Secret Lives of Snakes—returns for an encore to regale us with delightful “tails,” beautiful photos, hilarious footage, and fascinating scientific observations about our tiny four-legged friends. Her lizard book will be available for purchase and signing.
Join the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History‘s fun and friendly conversation and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature in this ongoing series of free science talks held on the second Monday of every month. No tickets or reservations required, but be sure to get to Dargan’s (18 E. Ortega St. in downtown Santa Barbara) early to secure a seat and order your favorite food and drink.
