The award-winning children’s book Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell is based on the life of Juana Maria, the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island. Join experts—including Curator of Anthropology John R. Johnson, Ph.D.—as they showcase the recent historical research that has uncovered new details about why she stayed on the island after the other members of her community were taken to the mainland.

Join our fun and friendly conversation, and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature. No tickets or reservations required, but be sure to get to Dargan’s early for a seat and to order your favorite drink and food.

Free admission. Sponsored by Sunrun. Art by Holli Harmon.
