Solvang’s storied, Danish-style holiday celebration, Solvang Julefest, begins November 27, 2026, with some new facets added to the event line-up that runs through January 3, 2027. The month-long event stretch will once again include the season-starting Solvang Tree Lighting Ceremony (Friday, December 4, 2026), the Solvang Julefest Parade (Saturday, December 5, 2026), and the New Year’s Eve event, Copenhagen Countdown (Thursday, December 31, 2026, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM).
Holiday shoppers can expect the Wednesday Maker’s Markets, open-air holiday shopping opportunities fashioned after traditional European nightmarkets (December 2, 9, 16, and 23, 2026, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Solvang Park). Christmas carolers, Candlelight Tours, and other strolling options will join the month’s mix, as well as a fairy tale version of the Candlelight Tour, and the Solvang Trolley Christmas Light Tour. The nightly Solvang Julefest Light & Music Show also returns to Solvang Park, with an on-the-hour, 10-minute light and music display running every evening, November 27 through January 3 (5:00 PM through 9:00 PM).
Additional, ongoing Solvang Julefest activities include the popular Nisser Adventure, the city-wide scavenger hunt for the mischievous Solvang Nisser (Danish for “elves”), which runs November 27-January 3, and photos with Santa at Santa’s Village, in Solvang Park. Photos with Santa will begin Saturday, November 28, and will happen every Saturday and Sunday, November 28 and 29, and December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On Saturday, December 12, a pup-friendly version of holiday photos pops up in Solvang Park, as Therapy Dogs of America returns for Photos with Santa Paws (10:00 AM-12:00 PM).
The unofficial finale to Solvang Julefest, the Solvang Christmas Tree Burn, one of the largest fire safety demonstrations along the California Central Coast, is scheduled for Friday, January 8, 2027, at 5:00 PM (weather permitting). All further Solvang Julefest 2026 / 2027 details and events will be announced in the next few months.
