SPARC Speaker Event: Beyond #MeToo – Gender Politics in the Trump Era

While we have a bit o’ wind at our backs with success at the midterms last year, SPARC is forging ahead into 2019 with a shut down government, intensifying investigations and critical legislation on deck. Our resolution: stay engaged on things that matter. In that light, there is no better person to ignite the new year than Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson. Arrive early to place your drink order. As you know, #MeToo is much bigger and more complex than a hashtag. Prior to the event we will circulate some recommended reading. In the meantime, please check out related laws created and/or endorsed by Senator Jackson. Senator Jackson also authored Senate Bill 826 – signed by Governor Jerry Brown in October 2018 – that requires gender diversity on corporate boards. Senate Bill 826 requires every publicly-held corporation in California to have a minimum of one woman on its board of directors by the end of 2019, and more by the end of July 2021.
