This week we welcome Minister of Music Aaron Musicant. He says, “I love ecstatic dance because it is one of the few places where all of who we are is welcomed: the shadowy and the playful, the ecstatic and big, and the meek. I love being able to show up exactly as I am and to have a community around me doing the same.
As a DJ, I enjoy creating a framework to allow for varying edges of us to have access to the surface: bliss as well as stuckness, boredom as well as ecstasy. Within that framework, I have been practicing DJ-ing more like I dance, with more spontaneity. I listen for the energy of the room to make the journey more of a co-created dialogue than a planned voyage.”
Minister of Music Aaron Musicant completed the Ecstatic Dance Leadership Training in Oakland, California and now DJs regularly for Tribe. He facilitates a monthly First Friday Ecstatic Dance at Yoga Soup, too. Tribe was his first foray into the world of ecstatic dance seven years ago, and now he’s thrilled to play for the community that nurtured him into a local ecstatic dance facilitator.
