Enjoy a morning of astronomy adventures for kids! Astrophysicist Jeffrey Bennett joins us at Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History for two special events in Gladwin Planetarium. Author of the Max Science Adventure Series—the first children’s books to be read from space—Bennett’s picture book tales of Max the dog and friends carry a message of hope and inspiration.

Space is infinite, but planetarium seats are not. Register for the show(s) of your choice (details below) while spots last, and please arrive 15 minutes early (at 9:45 or 10:45) to check in and take your seat. There will be no late entry. Books from Bennett’s series will be available for purchase from 10:00 AM to noon, courtesy of the Museum Store, with signing opportunities after each show.

Included with admission, and Members are always free. The planetarium is not ADA accessible; visit our accessibility page for more information.

10:00 AM – Max Goes to the Moon Planetarium Show (Museum Members only)

Follow Max the dog and his young friend Tori to the Moon in a 30-minute planetarium show for all ages, based on the book by Bennett. Enjoy Q&A with the author after the show.

11:00 AM – Max Goes to Mars Storytime and Planetarium Show (open to public with paid Museum admission and free registration)

After Max’s adventure to the Moon, he decides to travel to Mars! This reading and planetarium show combo is followed by Q&A with the author.
