Local landscape designer Joan S. Bolton will take us on a photographic journey through countless ways we can incorporate drought-tolerant succulents into our gardens. This is a designer’s notebook of ideas for weaving these fun, adaptable plants through your landscape, whether as diminutive jewels in a pot on a balcony; ground covers in broad swathes; interesting specimens; or solitary, large focal points. From her designer’s perspective, she will also suggest succulents for texture, form, color, sun, or shade–plus offer tips and techniques for successful plantings.
Joan has been designing colorful water-conserving gardens in the Santa Barbara area and writing garden articles for local and national publications for more than 30 years. She will illustrate her talk with inspirational photos of her own designs as well as gardens that she has admired.
This is the FREE monthly meeting of the Santa Barbara County Horticultural Society. A plant raffle takes place after the meeting. Raffle tickets available at the door. Consider joining the Society for only $30/year–free garden tours are a benefit of membership. (Photo courtesy of Joan S. Bolton)
Upcoming Meeting June 3: Cocktails and the Summer Garden by poet, author, and cocktail aficionado George Yatchisin.
