Summer Art Show at the Camino Real Marketplace

The Goleta Valley Art Association will return its summer outdoor show to Goleta when its hosts The Summer Show and Sale at the Marketplace, an art festival featuring original works by local artists on Saturday, August 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta. Sponsors include Art Essentials, Camino Real Marketplace, and Limousine Link. A portion of proceeds of sales from the show will benefit Direct Relief.

The show will be mounted in the outdoor food court area of the plaza and give visitors the opportunity to view and purchase the association’s artwork as well as enjoy the music of Tom Henderson’s Summerland Band from 1-4 p.m. Henderson, a well-known watercolorist, also has served on the SBCC Lifelong Learning art faculty.

“We are so excited to be bringing our outdoor summer show back to Goleta,” said Elizabeth Flanagan, president of the organization. “It has been a pleasure to work with the management of the Marketplace to make this happen.”

Twenty-one artists will show two–and three–dimensional works of arts and provide an opportunity for the community to purchase art for their homes and for their friends and families.

The GVAA began as a small group of artists who first met in March 1963, showing their artwork at a Goleta bank. From its first meeting place in the office of the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce to its present-day site at the Goleta Public Library, the Association has grown from 16 members to over 200 members.
