Author and filmmaker Claudia Chotzen experienced a wild childhood; one full of chaos, politics, adventure, danger, and love. Her mother was so busy with her photography careeer and political activism that the eight children were often left to fend for themselves. To the outside world her family seemed picture-perfect, but inside their home a darker reality existed. Her mother who should have been her fiercest protector and strongest advocate was her greatest danger. Claudia writes about it in her book The Dark Room: A Memoir of Triumph. (Bring your book to the event and Claudia can sign it for you!).

Maureen Kafkis, the Brain BS Coach and host of The Power of Community & Collaboration in Santa Barbara Podcast, is hosting an evening with Claudia Chotzen. The evening will begin with a small wine and cheese reception followed by a candid interview with Claudia on what it took for her to tap into the courage she needed to stand up to her mother for her own sake as well as all of her siblings. We will discuss all the Brain BS involved when you risk separating from the tribe and speaking your authentic truth. The interview will be followed by a Q&A where the audience can ask their own questions and get their books signed by Claudia.

Claudia’s courage and ability to speak up has transformed her life and those around her in amazing ways. Both Claudia and I hope that having this meaningful conversation can inspire you to tap into your own leadership energy to speak your truth so you can have a ripple effect on the community around you.
