RUBENSTEIN CHAN Contemporary Art

Several poets have written poems based on the artwork seen in the Textual Integrations exhibit currently on view at Rubenstein Chan Contemporary Art in Carpinteria.  This show is based on how artists use words in their art. There are 14 artists with 14 different approaches to how words fit in/make the art.  On May 14, the poems will be read publicly for the first time. Santa Barbara poet laureate, George Yatchisin, will be the presenter for the evening and will do a workshop on writing to seeing!

The images are by artist Salvatore Matteo, from his Campbell’s Soup series.  He photographs, then cuts shapes and reorganizes the photo so it is somewhat recognizable!  He uses a razor blade to do the cutting and includes it with the finished piece.

Textual Integration will be in the gallery until May 31.
