“THE ART OF THE DRAW” – THE VADA DRAW 2022

The Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA) at Santa Barbara High School will hold its annual VADA DRAW fundraiser, “The Art of the Draw,” on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at The Museum of Contemporary Art SB, 653 Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara, at 7 pm.  The VADA DRAW will be a fun evening of art, music, and delicious food and drinks from Cape D’Or Wines, Ysidro Sake Spritz, and Apropos Catering.  The exciting DRAW raffle features art donated by over 100 local and global artists, celebrities, and talented VADA students.

The Visual Arts & Design Academy (VADA) at Santa Barbara High School is a unique public school-within-a-school that serves students in grades 9-12, integrating exceptional art instruction with academic coursework.  The VADA DRAW raises more than 30% of VADA’s annual budget, funding art education for over 300 student artists. Studies have shown that Art is not only a tool for self-expression and creativity, but it can lower anxiety and aid in mental health during stressful times.  During the pandemic, VADA has been a vital lifeline for students by offering a creative outlet and strong support system.

In the last 3 years, VADA has grown by 125% and has supported college-bound students with an average matriculation rate of 97%. VADA graduates are working artists, entrepreneurs, and professionals across a wide variety of fields. VADA is the district leader with a long record of commitment to equity and access.
