We know quite a bit about how religious people think about experiences they describe as mystical, religious, or paranormal, but what about Humanists and others who are neither religious nor spiritual?
Do they have this kind of unusual experience? And, if they do what do they make of them?
Ann Taves is Professor Emerita of Religious Studies at UCSB and Principal Investigator of the Inventory of Nonordinary Experiences Project. For almost 30 years, she has been studying unusual experiences that some people consider mystical, religious, and/or paranormal.
Her books include Fits, Trances, and Visions; Religious Experience Reconsidered; and Revelatory Events.
Professor Taves will be the September speaker for the Humanist Society of Santa Barbara on
Saturday, September 28 at 3 pm. All are welcome to join us on Zoom. The link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84740760019.
