Our speaker is Petr Kosina, whose life-long fascination with parrots has taken him all over the world. With degrees in animal husbandry and as an agricultural agronomist specializing in pest management, he has developed and managed projects in Central America, Southern Asia, and Africa. He has worked with, lived with, and spent quality time (decades!) with over 20 parrot species. He has also taught basic bird care classes for Mickaboo and volunteered at the Bird Hotel, both located in San Francisco.
For The Plumery Parrot Club’s first zoom lecture, Petr will discuss safe and healthy housing for companion parrots. He will cover topics including: caging design, size, material, bar spacing, placement, perches, toys, flooring substrate. He will also mention such common home hazards as airborne dangers, toxic substances, and other pets.
