The Santa Barbara Jazz Society Presents The Carl Saunders Quartet

The Santa Barbara Jazz Society is proud to present trumpet virtuoso, Carl Saunders with his quartet in concert on Sunday, June 16 at SOhO from 1 to 4pm. Saunders is well regarded as one of the best trumpet players around today. Coming from a musical family… his mother was a big band singer and his two uncles were trumpeter, Bobby Sherwood and octet leader, Dave Pell…as a teenager, Saunders joined the Stan Kenton Band and today is lead trumpet with the Bill Holman Band. He has also worked with John Williams and the big bands of Gerald Wilson and Bob Florence as well as leader of his own big band.

Jazz Society members may remember Saunders appearing at SOhO with Johnny Mandel’s big band and also last year with the Phil Norman Tentet. Joining Carl for his upcoming appearance are pianist Sam Hirsh, bassist Dave Stone, and Kevin Kanner on drums.

You can renew your SBJS membership at the door for 2019 the day of the concert or online on our website. Admission to the event is $15 for members, $25 for non-members, $5 for full-time students, and $7 for local jazz musicians with membership.
