The title of this show, “Theme and Variation,” is derived from the musical term, which can be defined as “a simple, usually harmonized melody presented first in its original unadorned form then repeated many times with variations that have at least some semblance of its general melodic or harmonic form.”

In visual art this “theme” can be an image – a still life, landscape, portrait, or even abstract image that is repeated in varied forms, modified and altered by the medium, execution, and personal vision of the artist.

Vicki Andersen’s work revolves around a love of flowers, architecture, and the landscape. Neil Andersson’s paintings are primarily focused on the natural world with its varied organic forms, the light and changing atmosphere. Both artists have developed personal styles influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
