The Trans Revolution Series brings trans artists, activists, and speakers to UCSB to discuss the worth they have done and their experiences as a trans person and establish a dialogue about trans people at UCSB. We have also specifically booked POC this quarter so that we can adress the issues of intersectionality, anti-POC mentality within the queer community, and create a narrative from which our students who belong to those particular communities can identify with.
MJ Rodriguez is an American actress and singer. Rodriguez is known for her role as Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista in the television drama Pose, where she is among the largest cast of transgender actors to be starring as series regulars in a scripted show. She is also known for her performance as Angel in the 2011 off-Broadway revival of Rent. In 2019 Rodriguez became the first openly transgender woman to win Best Actress- Television at the Imagen Awards.
