Directed by Jon Nathan, the UCSB Jazz Ensemble presents a Tribute to Chick Corea, featuring the UCSB Jazz Ensemble, combos, UCSB Percussion Ensemble, and special guests including UCSB Jazz Ensemble alumni Jarod Fedele and Reno Behnken,” on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 7:30 pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus.

Music to be performed includes selections from “Children Songs” for solo piano and mallet duets, small group performances of “Bud Powell,” “Night Sprite”, “500 Miles High”, and big band performances of such classics as “Señor Mouse”, “Tones for Joan’s Bones,” and “La Fiesta”, and “Armando’s Rhumba”. Rounding out the concert will be a collaboration with UCSB’s Chamber Choir and performances of the iconic Corea compositions “Spain” and “Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy”, an example of the height of the Jazz Fusion movement of the 1970s. Join us as we celebrate the career of a jazz legend, Chick Corea.
