Directed by Professor Scott Marcus, the UCSB Middle East Ensemble will present an exciting evening of music and dance reflecting the great diversity of cultures found in the Middle East on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 7:30 pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus. The ensemble will especially focus on music and dance from Iran in this concert. In addition to the orchestra-sized ensemble, chorus, and dance company, the concert will also feature special guest artists: a Persian singer, a tonbak drummer, and a ney flute player. Founded in 1989, the UCSB Middle East Ensemble performs classical to religious pieces; folk, popular, and children’s songs; as well as folk, classical, and cabaret-style dances.
