The Santa Barbara UNA Peace Prize was created by the United Nations Association of Santa Barbara to commemorate the International Day of Peace. The theme this year is “Nurturing Peace.”

The Peace Prize honors those in our community who advance the causes of peace, human rights, and humanitarian aid globally.

We are delighted to award ShelterBox USA our 2022 Santa Barbara-UNA Peace Prize.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, ShelterBox USA has provided shelter, warmth, and dignity following more than 300 disasters in over 100 countries since 2000. ShelterBox responds urgently to earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami, or conflict by delivering boxes of essential shelter, aid and other lifesaving supplies. Each iconic green ShelterBox contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, a water filtration system, emergency lighting, and other tools for survival. ShelterBox was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and 2019.

The Santa Barbara UNA Peace Prize Awards Ceremony is October 24th, from 5-6:30 PM in honor of United Nations Day. Tickets are available at unasb.org and include appetizers and wine and beer at Pascucci Santa Barbara. Attendees will also be provided with a gift copy of “Prophet the Hatmaker’s Son, The Life of Robert Muller.” Robert Muller is recognized as one of the great peacemakers of the 20th century, who dedicated his life to the United Nations, and served as Assistant Secretary General.
