Buddhist Church Of Santa Barbara
Whether you’re a lifelong Buddhist, want to reconnect with your Buddhist roots, or are curious about Buddhism come join the Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara (BCSB)’s monthly gathering which includes a dharma reflection service and our Lunch and Learn Series: Buddhism and Pop Culture.
Join us at our picturesque temple on Santa Barbara’s Eastside on Saturday April 11th at 10 am for a Buddhist service that includes moments to quiet the mind, chanting of traditional texts called sutras, and hearing a dharma message from our priest. This special occasion celebrates the birth of the historical Buddha, Sakyamuni.
At 11am, we’ll explore the theme Buddhist concepts of the self by looking at and discussing clips from the hit 2006 movie, The Devil Wears Prada, and will answer any questions you have about Buddhism. A complimentary lunch with refreshments will be served.
Our monthly gathering is open to all. No RSVP required and ample parking available on-site. This is a free event, but donations are gratefully accepted. We also offer Qigong classes to support the mind and body and Japanese folk dance in preparation for our summertime Obon festival.
BCSB is part of the 800-year-old Jodo Shinshu tradition of Japanese Pure Land Buddhism and has been rooted in Santa Barbara since 1913.
