Nothing can stop the sixth annual “Spirits in the (Isolating) AirPotent Potable Poetry

The reading “Spirits in the (Isolating) AirPotent Potable Poetry” will be held Friday, April 24 from 7 pm to 8 pm on Zoom. The event, which has free admission, is open to the public. A group of invited poets will read their work, and the work of others, about libations of all sorts. The reading will be hosted by George Yatchisin, “Drinkable Landscape” columnist for Edible Santa Barbara, food writer for the Santa Barbara Independent, and author of Feast Days and The First Night We Thought the World Would End.

Featured readers include Laure-Anne Bosselaar, Susan Chiavelli, Diana Raab, Linda Saccoccio, David Starkey (Santa Barbara Poet Laureate III), Emma Trelles, Jace Turner, and Chryss Yost (Santa Barbara Poet Laureate V).

To listen in, preferably with a drink nearby, Join Zoom Meeting https://ucsb.zoom.us/j/94305572625

You can also support our usual host for this annual reading, The Good Lion, by purchasing a to-go cocktail to enjoy at home while listening. As you should know, Brandon and Misty own The Good Lion and Shaker Mill (and Test Pilot, too).

Order via: shakermillsb.com, the day of, no later than 4 PM. Pickup at Shaker Mill, 418 State St. The drinks keep from 3-7 days (shaken drinks) to 30 days (stirred drinks).

“From Bacchus to Berryman, from Li Po to Dorothy Parker, drink and lyric flights have danced a long, sometimes loving, sometimes leery waltz,” Yatchisin says. “This event will attest to the multi-faceted ways poets have found inspiration, solace, and yes, sometimes sickness in the bottle. Now in its sixth year, this event makes clear just how fun poetry can be, and how the magic of words can help unite us even in a time like this when we are physically isolated.”
