Coral reefs are suffering from rapid changes in their environment, like increasing temperatures and CO2 concentrations, but some corals are more tolerant than others. University of Rhode Island Ph.D. students Danielle Becker and Emma Strand will share their research on corals’ response to the stress of climate change. Their work seeks to understand the genetic mechanisms behind this stress response, which could help scientists predict what happens to future generations of corals.

This talk is part of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s ongoing series, Science Pub. Join our fun and friendly conversation, and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature. Like our real-life venue Dargan’s, this Zoom webinar is free, but has limited capacity. Register online: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_OlMY2VVDSiG7tRFrQzr1Uw
