May 1st is traditionally the international day of the workers and many in Santa Barbara turned out to show support for renters and minimum wage workers. The Coronavirus didn’t stop the 40 cars, three motorcycles and handful of bicycles circling the 700 to 900 blocks of State Street in downtown Santa Barbara on Friday. Cars honked horns, and mega-phones blasted. A few UCSB COLA protesters were spotted sprinkled throughout the caravan. Many of the car passengers called for a rent strike and mortgage relief, and almost all showed support for essential workers.
