S.B. Funk Zone Live was back in action on March 29, with artist studios and venues open on that Friday evening. This was a kick-off to what organizers say will now be a monthly activation in the Funk Zone, similar Downtown Santa Barbara’s monthly 1st Thursday events (and to what went on pre-COVID).

“The arts are like Santa Barbara’s economic superheroes, boosting tourism, creating jobs, and supporting local businesses. Our vibrant arts scene isn’t just beautiful — it’s a powerhouse for our economy, showing that creativity has the amazing ability to bring prosperity to our wonderful city,” said Jana Brody, who is the coordinator of the events.

Bringing together the larger community for festivities, S.B. Funk Zone Live is a free, all-ages experience for locals and visitors alike. Each registered venue has an art element included; so non-art venues feature a local artist, band, or poet.

S.B. Funk Zone Live upcoming series dates are May 31, July 26, September 27, and December 6 from 5-8 p.m.
