A joyously vibrant tapestry of art threaded across the walls at the Community Arts Workshop over the weekend. Chock full of color and creativity, everything from abstracts to assemblage, photography, still lifes, collage, landscapes and more dotted the galleries at the annual “Ready to Hang” show which took place on Saturday, November 18.

A one night only fundraiser for the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative — a nonprofit collective of artists and arts supporters committed to sustaining and growing all forms of the arts, which includes running the Community Arts Workshop space — “Ready to Hang” met its maximum capacity this year, with 450 pieces on sale (all 12 x 12 inches) and artists donating 30 percent of each sale to the work of SBAC.

Curated by artist Michael Long, submissions of up to two pieces were open to artists of all stripes, types, and backgrounds, with the caveat that they must be “local,” meaning from Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.

In addition to the public show on Saturday, Friday night (November 17) was an artists’-only party, designed to allow the creative community to rub shoulders, share ideas and encouragement and continue to build our local art scene and further the mission of SBAC.
