The latest Sheriff’s Roundup starts off with a “snapshot” of how the pandemic impacted the Sheriff’s office and the spike in 2021’s first few months. The jail, one of the county’s largest congregate living facilities, became the focus of a response plan, that included inmate screening, disinfection, and alternatives to traditional visitation.
The other major focus during the pandemic has been domestic abuse, including situations targeting elders, children, and animals. Next on the docket: a recap of high-profile cases from the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2021, including a double murder and a sexual battery case involving more than two dozen victims.
