Gerald Anthony Bradley died unexpectedly November 4, 2008. Born to Andrew and Victoria Bradley on Nov. 9, 1938, Jerry grew up among the orange groves of Burbank, CA. After moving to Santa Barbara in 1959, he married Sue Atwater and in 1961 they had a daughter, Anne Victoria.

He received not only his BA and Masters Degree from UCSB, but also completed a PhD in Literature there. In 1971, he married second wife Toby Snitkin and in 1978 they had a daughter, Leah Catherine. After spending the first half of his life in Academia, teaching at UCSB, Cal Western and UCLA, he spent the second half as a technical editor with such companies as Martin Marietta, Polymorphic Systems, Minicars, Delco and Jet Propulsion Laboratories. He was especially proud of his work on the Space Shuttle program at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

He loved reading, writing, travel, theatre and the arts. His acting career started in high school as George in “Our Town,” and over the years he continued acting in many local productions, most notably with Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera and various Shakespeare in the Park companies. He is survived by his wife, Toby, his daughters Anne Curtis (Steven Curtis) and Leah, and his brother Charles (Kay).

A public memorial service will be held at Singleton Pavilion in Elings Park, 1298 Las Positas Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93105 on Tuesday November 18th at 1 pm. Please bring poems, readings and memories to share if desired.
