Daniel Randy Horta

Daniel Randy Horta; only child of Carmelita & Jesus Horta, born February 6, 1989 in Santa Barbara, Ca, left us suddenly Sunday January 4, 2009 after a brief bout with cancer. Daniel attended Notre Dame Elementary then transferred to Franklin elementary. He attended Santa Barbara Junior High before becoming a DON. In 2007 He graduated from Santa Barbara High School and was currently attending Humboldt State University majoring in English with a minor in Music.

Daniel was artistic, creative, loving and fun. He had a passion for music and loved playing his Marimba for his bands (SBHS, HSU & Samba).

Daniel loved going to concerts and lived his life to the fullest. Those who knew Daniel admired his individuality. Daniel was HOT! His short life spent with us was filled with love, laughter, and ROCK!
Daniel is survived by his best friend/mom Carmela and his father Jesus Horta, His Tia Liz (Max) Zavala, cousins Mark (Melissa) Gomez, Sophia, and Tina & their families, his loving Nina Christina Pinedo and Nino Jaime Ponce as well as the entire Santa Barbara Jimenez Families. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents Valentin and Juanita (Esper) Rodriguez, Grandfather Aristeo Horta, Tio Carlos Horta, Uncle Bob, Uncle Lupe, Uncle Cruz, and Tia Stella.

Daniel will be missed by all his family and friends and will live on with us every time we hear that song or watch that movie made special by Dan the man.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Church 1740 Cliff Drive. Viewing Friday January 9th, 2009 2-7pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. Funeral mass will be Saturday January 10, 2009 10am with reception following. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Santa Barbara High School Marching Band and Drumline, 700 E.
