Mary Kunin
Mary Kunin was born April 3, 1913 in Akron, Ohio. She continued to live and work in Ohio, and it was while working at an aircraft plant that she met and later married Carl Kunin. The couple moved to Michigan where they raised two daughters.
Mary, despite losing her arm in a street car accident at two years of age, was always the mother that was involved in her daughters activities, helped at all the gatherings, did the car pools, and also enjoyed babysitting for the neighbors children. She was a great cook, and everyone was always welcomed at her home.
Mary moved to Santa Maria, California with her younger daughter and grand-daughter in 1986, to be closer to her older daughter, who lived in Santa Barbara. Mary loved taking care of her granddaughter while her mother worked. She would walk to St Mary’s to take her to school and to pick her up. She loved attending all her granddaughters’ basketball and softball games. Mary also loved playing pinochle with her friends at the Alvin Mussell Senior Center. In her later years due to losing her eye sight, she truly enjoyed listening to books on tape, from the Braille Institute.
Mary is survived by her daughters Delores Kunin, Doris Darlene Kunin and her granddaughter Deidra Kunin Formes. Mary was a great mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed.
