Philip C. Reed
Philip C. Reed, 93 passed away on May 9th at home in Santa Barbara. His age reflects a life filled with love and enthusiasm. Phil was born April 7th, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He attended community college in Grand Rapids, studying chemistry.
His family moved to California in 1936, where he became interested in and worked in graphic arts. He was drafted into the army where he attended Officers Candidate School and graduated as Second Lieutenant, serving in both WWII and the Korean War. On December 2, 1942, Phil married Beulah “Petie” Peterson. Three children followed this union. Phil’s passions were his family, travel, camping, fishing, boating and love of the ocean. His family will always remember him for their amazing adventures with him and for his great sense of humor.
Phil and Petie moved to Santa Barbara in 2002 where they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. He will be sorely missed.
