Janelle A. Bell
Janelle Bell was 72 when she passed away on Sunday October 4th, 2009 in Santa Barbara. Janelle was born June 22nd, 1937 in Glendora, CA to Erol and Frank Vickery and is survived by her only sibling. She is also survived by her two children Lynda and Doug, daughter in law Shannon and granddaughter Alys.
Janelle graduated from Citrus Union High School in 1955. Janelle worked at three local banks. She was active and held many offices in several organizations including Job’s Daughters, Church Women United and the Native Daughters of the Golden West parlor #126, and was honored to portray Saint Barbara in the 1972 Old Spanish Days Fiesta. Janelle was also very active at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ as a diaconate, financial secretary, outreach and in the Christian Womens Fellowship as well as a frequent volunteer for worship and outreach projects such as serving meals at Casa Esperanza homeless shelter. A caring and loving neighbor and friend she was always willing to lend a helping hand or support to others. She had great compassion for the needs of others and was seen as a positive person with a sweet smile.
Janelle’s life will be celebrated on Saturday October 24th, 3:00 PM at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1915 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, www.fccsbca.com. Service by Rev. Ed Arbogast, Jr. arrangements by Pueblo del Rey Funeral Services (805) 895-8409. The Bell family requests that instead of flowers, donations are welcome to First Christian Church and will be divided between outreach to Casa Esperanza and the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
