William “Bill” David Allison
Bill passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the age of 88. Bill was born in Gering, Nebraska on September 18, 1921 to Col. and Mrs. J. Ned Allison. He met his wife, May Barnes Allison, of 64 years while walking the beaches of Ventura just after Pearl Harbor as a Nebraska National Guard. After serving in the National Guard he joined the Air Force, which took him to the CBI Theater during World War II where he spent four years in India. After the war he married May and they moved to Nebraska. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and attended the University of Nebraska obtaining both an undergraduate degree and a law degree. Bill will be remembered fondly by his friends as a Cornhusker through and through.
After law school Bill and May moved to Santa Barbara where Bill was admitted to the California Bar on July 27, 1954. He practiced law in Santa Barbara for more then 50 years. When not practicing law Bill was either on a tennis court, crewing on the “Senrab” for his father-in-law, Charles Barnes, Commodore of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club or playing with one of his many Boxers.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, May Barnes Allison, his sister, Barbara Harrington and his nephews, Joe Harrington and Jim Harrington. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Guide Dogs for the Blind, San Rafael, CA or the Santa Barbara Humane Society.
