Matthew Whalen French

Matthew Whalen French, age 25, passed away on April 16th at Santa Barbara’s Cottage Hospital. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, Matthew grew up in Lompoc, Santa Maria, and Elk Grove, California and graduated from Laguna Creek High School. He then graduated from UC Davis and worked for School’s Financial Credit Union in the Sacramento area. During the summer of 2008 Matthew worked for the UCSB Alumni Association’s Family Vacation Center. For the past two years he worked as a Training Specialist in the Human Resources Division of Montecito Bank and Trust.
Matthew is survived by his father, Mark French and partner, Paula Rudolph; his mother, Mary-Sue Allred and step-father, Ken Allred; his siblings, Nolan and Tracy French; and his step-siblings, Sara and Adam Whiteley, and Kalina and Lukas Allred. A memorial service for Matthew will be held on Saturday, May 1st from 1-3 p.m. at the Mosher Alumni House on UCSB’s campus.
