Maynard Curfman Yeaw
March 20th, 1946 – June 5th, 2010
Maynard Curfman Yeaw was born on March 20, 1946, to Warren and Peggy Yeaw. He spent his elementary and high school years in Santa Ana, CA graduating from Santa Ana High in 1964. After graduating from Cal State at Long Beach University with degrees in Business and History, Maynard went on to serve his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1972 Maynard moved to Santa Barbara and shortly thereafter began working for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, retiring after 30 years of service.
Maynard considered himself lucky to have had a career he was passionate about and to have worked with men he admired and trusted. He was a devoted family man who had incredible stories and an unforgettable sense of humor.
After the children were out of the house, he and his wife Linda were able to travel in Mexico,Costa Rica, Canada, and to many parts of the US. Maynard and Linda recently completed his lifelong dream of visiting the National Parks of the Northwest and most importantly Custer’s Last Stand Battlefield.
Maynard passed suddenly on June 5th surrounded by his loving family and a number of devoted coworkers from the fire department. He leaves behind Linda, his wife of 28 years. His daughters Sara Yeaw and Laura Litwin (Craig) and son Jason Bradway (Veronica). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Nicholas Yeaw, Olivia Litwin, Jack Bradway, Kai Litwin, Parker Litwin, and Molly Runkle-Yeaw. He also leaves behind his nephews Jeff Yeaw (Colleen) and Brian Yeaw.
Services will be held at the Santa Barbara Elks Lodge #613 in Goleta on Friday, June 11th at 11:00 am. Donations may be sent to the Santa Barbara County Firefighters Benevolent Foundation, in care of David Neels at 4410 Cathedral Oaks Rd., Santa Barbara CA 93110.
