Charles Burton Mace, III
March 3, 1947 – June 13th, 2010
Chuck Burton Mace III, a former resident of Santa Barbara passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 13. He was 63 years old.
He served on the Board of the Pacific Pride foundation and was very involved in the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Communities. He co-produced the Gay Pride Festival for 3 years and was on the Board of the International Association of Pride Coordinators. Jerry White, his partner of 10 years, was the first person in Santa Barbara County to contract AIDS. With Chuck, they developed the services that are provided by Pacific Pride for persons living with AIDS.
Chuck retired to Palm Springs several years ago and is survived by his partner Mark Prather, four sisters, Virginia, Dorothy, Charolette, and Sandra and countless friends. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Sunday, July 11, at Adagio Galleries, 73-300 El Paseo Drive, Palm Desert, CA, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. All friends and family are invited and welcome to attend.
