Donald Edward Jones
Don tragically passed from this earth on April 24, 2010 when falling and striking his head in his store in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Born in Santa Barbara on July 26, 1951 to Philip G. Jones, and Elvyra Edna Beck, Don was a Boy Scout as a child and had toured Europe. He graduated from San Marcos High in 1970 and went on to attend several schools of higher learning including City College, Christ College and Cal State Irvine. Don owned several businesses, the Tune Bee and Clean Machine in the 1970s and 1980s. In the late 1980s he moved to Lancaster, CA where he owned and operated 10 TH & I Towing. In the 1990s he moved to Arizona and commuted to Las Vegas and Laughlin, NV working as a cashier in the casinos.
Later he tried his hand at air conditioning repair. Several years ago he purchased the Discount Computer store where he sold and repaired computers in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Don was a generous man believing always in the good of people, many times to a fault. He had always loved cars and had acquired over 50 vehicles at the time of his death. He loved the heat of the desert; living in Lake Havasu City was the perfect place for him where he enjoyed fishing, water skiing, boating and jet skiing.
He leaves two sisters, Marcia Edgar of Pine Valley and Dorothy Oksner of Carpinteria, and many nephews and nieces. An older sister, Phyllis Hirschberg of Ojai, died in February 2008.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family at his gravesite in the Goleta Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2010.
