Elaine was born in Worcester Massachusetts March 28th, 1946 and was raised in Santa Barbara from her early childhood until her untimely death September 12th, 2010.
She attended Bishop High School and graduated from San Marcos High School in 1964. Elaine had a lifetime career as an Ultrasonographer and Radiographer as Chief technologist at Pueblo Radiology and also working at St. Francis Hospital and Goleta Valley Community Hospital. She excelled at her career and loved what she did.
Elaine ( known as Lanie) is survived by her wonderful mother and best friend Irene Ottoson, her beloved son Steven Weeks ( wife Audrey) their four precious children Sienna, Haley, Jenna and Kaleb. Her brothers Michael Buchin (wife Ann), William Buchin (wife Ophy), her sister Margaret Beeson (husband Mark). She had an unfailing faith in God and a strong conviction to her church.
One of Elaine’s shining attributes was being able to make you feel hopeful and special no matter what life threw at you. She was a wonderful listener and had the trust of a child with the compassion of a saint. I asked my son Erik what he thougtht of Elaine and without hesitation he said she was a beautiful goodhearted women that was loyal to her family, friends and others in need, through thick and thin.
As quiet as Elaine was most of the time she would surprise us with an unbridled enthusiastic spirit for fun.
She will be tremendously missed by family, friends and all who knew her. May she rest peacefully in God’s arms.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Free Methodist Church, 1435 Cliff drive, Santa Barbara, California, Saturday October 9th at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in her honor.
