Sy Lankin
My husband of almost 15 years died earlier this year after a 10 month battle with cancer.
Sy grew up in The “good ole days” of Hollywood. Sy graduated from Fairfax High School.
Sy was many people during his lifetime – husband, father, son, brother, grampa, singer, dancer, musician, traveler, gambler, poet, friend and lover.
During our short time together we enjoyed great friends, family, travels and volunteering. We probably had twenty cruises, many trips on land such as Mexico, Spain, Caracas, Paris, New Orleans, Portugal, Argentina, and many more!
Life was not always easy for Sy but he remained the eternal optimist to the end.
Sy wrote hundreds of poems and this one always kinda said it all – I hope you enjoy it too. I miss him every day.
Parade of Souls
Go marching by
All in step together
Some to pull
Some to push
Tied with line
A tether
The leader of
this marching horde
Is one I do not know
He leads them left
He leads them right
He leads them
To and fro
Some to laugh
Some to sing
Some are even crying
It’s not for lack of effort
I see that all are trying
I stand aside
To let them pass
But as they’re drawing near
A chill runs through
My whole being
And I am filled with fear
Why does this feeling
Overtake
What is it I must do
At last I have
the answer
I must join them too!
