Jacklyn Meek Potter
December 5, 1929 – January 3, 2011
Jacklyn Meek Potter died on Jan 3rd in Santa Barbara, CA.
A friend, Susanne, wrote of Jackie: “She was such an amazing woman. Nothing would dare to be mundane in her world, nothing quotidian. Everything she touched took on a little gold leaf because she made us peek into her way of seeing things. Sometimes she was infuriating in her inability or unwillingness to see the world the way we see it, but most of the time, I think most of us were in awe of her. Her world was peopled by gods and demons – nothing in between; by beauty or ugliness; by joy or sorrow. She was an amazing painter and writer, a woman whose love for those around her was almost palpable. Her childlike wonder and response to life was infectious.”
The world will shine a little less bright without her in it. Her beloved Clifford Potter died in October 2009. She is survived by her brother John Meek and by her six children; Margaret Towne, Stephen Towne, Clifford Towne, Catherine Towne, Anne Gerdes and John Matthews and her three step children; Nina Potter, Bayard Potter and Eugenie de Rham and their families; extended family and friends.
