We are sad to announce that Danny Ordas passed away on 3/25, 2011. Danny was a front seat passenger in a car hit head on by a drunk driver on Saturday, 3/19 on Hwy 154.

He is survived by his daughter, and light of his life, Emily Ordas, his brother, Ray Ordas, dear friend Annette Ordas, and a wealth of friends who all counted Danny as one of the sweetest, most kind, giving, and pure of heart true Santa Barbara locals they knew. Danny was the beloved son of Wanda and Emilio Ordas. He was born and raised in Santa Barbara, attended local schools and was a graduate of UCSB.

Danny was committed to preserving the history of Santa Barbara through his story telling, and avid collecting of local historical artifacts. Santa Barbara has gone through many changes over his lifetime and his commitment to sharing his memories and treasures has prevented many valuable pieces of this town from being lost. He was a curator of Santa Barbara history to all who knew him, and his legacy will continue through those who heard his stories, appreciated his sharp wit, and were a part of his world.

He was a proud member of E Clampus Vitus 1.5, a local chapter of a California brotherhood of men committed to California history and its preservation, as well as the Santa Barbara Men’s Gardening Club. Those who had the pleasure of visiting him in his garden know what a talented and passionate gardener he was.

He shared his gifts, his talents and his heart generously with all. He will be greatly missed by those who had the joy of being touched by his magical spirit. Memorial service will be held Sat. April 23rd, at Skofield Park area “A”, 12:00 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Danny’s most beloved charity, The Smile Train at www.smiletrain.org
