Harold “Victor” V. Garcia
On May 11, 2012 after a vigilant battle with cancer, Harold “Victor” Garcia, on his own terms, passed on to restful peace. He was 71.
Born in Carpinteria, Ca where he played football he lived his life with the true meaning of the term Warrior.
Never afraid to try new things, Harold Victor Garcia, was committed to continuing to grow, learn and make new friends on a daily. Even during the week of his passing he managed to make an impression on his attendants at Serenity House where he thanked them while trying to make them laugh. This was his true spirit always hopeful, ever strong.
Family mattered and was also very important to him where he was always available for hugs and advice to his three children, Andi, Victor R, and Terisa and their mother, Terry. He was loved and adored by his eight grandchildren with whom he each had a special and individual relationship making the term “Grandpa” seem cool.
Harold was also very close to and loved his dear sisters, Mona, Millie, Mary, and ChaCha as well as being beloved “Tio Harold” to his many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Carmen Luz and father, Francis T and two brothers , Edward and Frankie “Pancho” who he missed very much.
Respected by many that considered him their own “father” he continued to win the hearts of most everyone he encountered not out of command but for the reason that he lived by “one has to give respect in order to get it”.
Forever the optimist he greeted service people by name always telling that corny joke for the hundredth time just to get them to smile like it was his mission in life. He shared that spirit with all of his friends as well as his dear companion of several years. His optimism was key; as he cheered on his RaiderNation!
The family would like to thank Sansum Oncology doctors and staff and nurses for their love and kindness, to Serenity House, and to Santa Barbara Foundation and ask that the community at large support these great and vital services.
One chosen passage that sums up his family spirit “Perfect Love Casts Out All Fear”
Daddy, we carry our own little golden treasure boxes of your love in our hearts. We Love You!
