Maxine Therese Apodaca
Born to Max and Josephine Montoya on June 2, 1938 in Albuquerque, NM; died June 7, 2012 after her battle with Cancer in Santa Barbara, CA.
Her parents moved their family to Santa Barbara when she was 15 years old and she graduated from Santa Barbara Catholic High in 1956. Maxine’s successful career included Banking, Mortgage Lending and Real Estate but she truly enjoyed her retirement job as a Greeter for the Security Department at Cottage Hospital. After her father passed away in 1981, Maxine was the sole caretaker of her mother for the following 30 years.
A woman of strong faith, she was a Lector and devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Always a volunteer, she was very generous of her time for several charities and organizations over her years. She had strong character, admired by many, and loved by all who knew her. What she loved most and did best, was being a Grandma and was thrilled to become a Great Grandma this past November.
She is survived by her daughter Celine Apodaca, granddaughter Antoinette Romero, great-grand daughter Isela Garcia, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be held at Mt. Carmel, Thursday June 14, 2012 at 6pm. Mass will be held at Mt. Carmel Friday June 15th at 12 noon, followed by Calvery Cemetery on Hope Ave. in Santa Barbara.
