In Memoriam

Kathryn Ann Ronfor Cameron, LCSW

October 1, 1953 – August 29, 2012

The world was graced with an extraordinary presence when Kathryn was born on October 1, 1953, in Morristown, New Jersey, to artists Philip Alan Ronfor and Eva Genevieve Spieler Ronfor.

In her youth, her family moved to Wilton, Connecticut, where Kat forged profound friendships that would last throughout her life.

She studied art at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, and graduated from Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She continued her education at Fordham University, New York, receiving a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work, while simultaneously completing a 3-year program in Kabalistic Healing with A Society Of Souls. Kathryn became a valued member of a team of professionals at Four Winds Hospital in Cross River, New York, working as a Psychiatric Social Worker. She later developed a private psychotherapy practice in Mt. Kisco, New York, and Santa Barbara, California.

She was a gifted artist and photographer, her boundless creativity inspired by her love of nature, the ocean, and the hot house colors of Mexico. Through her work and love of life she developed a highly attuned aesthetic sensibility and an abiding love of beauty. Kat possessed great intellectual and spiritual curiosity; her exploration connected her to people and places all around the world.

Kathryn will be remembered for her deep insight, grace, and integrity. Her wonderful generosity of spirit touched everyone she met–anyone whose life intersected with hers became a thread in the tapestry of her heart.

Kathryn Cameron passed away peacefully in her sleep at 12:01 am on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012. She is survived by her sister, Buddhist Acharya Allyn Ronfor Lyon, of Colorado, and her beloved nephew, Chris Ronfor Lyon, also of Colorado.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on Sunday, September 23rd at 4:00 pm, at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara located at 1535 Santa Barbara Street.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Kathryn’s honor and memory to support the ongoing work of the non-profit Swamahiman organization, who’s mission is to support, disseminate and preserve ancient Vedic and Sanskrit knowledge: Self Inquiry Life Fellowship, P.O.
