WALLACE, III, Walter John died peacefully December 28, 2012 at age 67 in Santa Monica.

John is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Witherell Wallace of Santa Monica, his sister, Kristi Wallace of Santa Barbara, his sister Kate Wallace and Kate’s partner, Douglas Clegg, also of Santa Barbara, and six children, Jake, Luke, Mack, Buck, Whitney and Raleigh. He was predeceased by his father, Walter John Wallace, Jr., his mother, Ann Cornwell Wallace, and his brother, Robert Stuart Wallace.

John, a fifth generation Californian, was born in Pasadena and lived most of his life in California, primarily in Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and Napa. He attended the Midland School and graduated from San Marino High School in 1963, and received a BS in Business (1970) and an MBA (1971) from the University of Southern California. John served in the US Army from 1965-1968 as a Sergeant.

John made his career as an institutional sales executive beginning at Smith Barney and Co. in 1971. He also worked at A.G. Becker & Company, First Boston Corp., Salomon Brothers, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and Bear Stearns & Co. John was also a business entrepreneur running his family’s business, Brogdex Company, which was founded by his late grandfather. At the time of his death, he was a Managing Director of Institutional Equity Sales at the Royal Bank of Canada, based in Los Angeles.

Like his father, John was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Los Angeles Country Club and the Valley Club of Santa Barbara. He was also active for many years with Big Brothers of America, as a volunteer Big Brother.

A small service for family members will be held at San Gabriel Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. George F. Regas presiding. A larger memorial gathering will be held in Los Angeles at a later date. John will be truly missed.
