Margaret Louise Carleton Taylor Fox, known as “Maggie” to family and friends, has entered into rest following a long illness.

Born in Kansas, Maggie moved often as a child, following her father in his career with the railroads. She attended the University of Denver, majoring in math and chemistry: she excelled academically, earning Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board awards. After college, she married Ray R. “Bob” Taylor, M.D. and together they raised four children in Pueblo, Colorado and Atherton, California. Maggie loved being involved in her children’s many activities – from leading Cub Scout troops, to driving swim team carpools, to making cheerleader outfits. She welcomed all the neighborhood children into her home and heart – always offering home-baked treats!

After Bob’s death, Maggie remarried M.C. “Bud” Fox and joined him in his retail clothing business, where Maggie’s creativity and style flourished. Maggie’s many passions included music, genealogy, jewelry design, cooking and hosting family gatherings. Her wonderful ability to listen and her wise advice made her a good friend to all.

Maggie is predeceased by not only her husbands and parents, but also her beloved son, Ray. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Nan Taylor (Santa Barbara), Susan Taylor (and Richard Dwiggins, Menlo Park), Jane Barrett (and Larry Barrett, Tehachapi) and four cherished grandchildren.

Maggie’s life will continue on through her daughters who embody Maggie’s unwavering strength and her grandchildren who will attempt to quench their Nana’s insatiable curiosity. Maggie lived her life in accordance with her favorite quote: “To thine own self be true…” She was a unique and gifted woman who will be dearly missed.

Her family is deeply grateful for the loving care Maggie received from her Villa Alamar Angels, Dr. Larry Mietus and the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.
