Vaughn Enslin Greditzer
Born: August 23, 1920
Passed: March 20, 2013
Beloved Vaughn Enslin Greditzer noted artist and long time resident of SB passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 20th 2013.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she spent her youth before graduating from University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelors of Arts in English. In 1966 she and her family moved from St. Louis to make Santa Barbara their home.
Her “Joie de Vive” was only surpassed by her sense of adventure and her belief that “anything was possible.” Her creativity ranged from a passion for cooking and entertaining to fashion design. It was not uncommon to read about her latest endeavor in SB Newspress, SB Magazine, SB Independent and Women’s Wear Daily. At 62 still anxious to learn, she enrolled in a short term study abroad class to learn French and the result a move to France.
Upon her return 15 years later, she was still tireless in her involvement with the community. SB Symphony, SB Museum of Natural History and the Humane Society were favorites. But she always found time to help inspire budding artists and anyone wanting creative direction.
She is survived by her son Peter Mele of Crowne Point, NY. Her daughter Victoria Zacek of Barnveld, NY. Her daughter Eve Greditzer of Lake Oswego, OR. Her son Arthur Greditzer of Palm Desert, CA. Her son David Greditzer of Concord, CA. Her granddaughter Kimie Ueoka-Freels of Portland, OR. Her grandson Justin Zacek of Utica, NY. Her grandson Nathanial Zacek of Poughkeepsie, NY. Her granddaughter Erica Zacek of Bend, OR. Her great granddaughter Josephine Mayumi Freels of Portland, OR. Lastly by her great grandson Judah David Zacek.
