Richard B. Sesma
November 27th our beloved Richard passed away due to a traumatic brain injury. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Frieda Sesma, his brother Jackie and his sister Patricia Pratt.
Richard distinguished himself as a 7th generation Californian.
Over his years with us his accomplishments were many. This included 42 years of dedicated service to the Santa Barbara Flood Control District and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Upon retirement Richard continued to serve Santa Barbara as a Host with the Santa Barbara City Police Department. He assisted tourists and local businesses alike along State Street.
He served on the Board of Directors of Old Spanish Days and as a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served on the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier until1 1959 while it toured the Pacific.
Richard and his wife Ellen traveled extensively, venturing as far as Alaska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Hawaii and New York often to visit family.
At the end of the day Richard enjoyed returning to his home in Santa Barbara.
Richard is survived by his wife Ellen, his sisters Jean Holly of Alaska and Priscilla Kyte of Santa Barbara, his daughter Seanna Sesma of Ventura and his nephew Paul Bienenstock of Florida, his favorite niece Claudine Kieferle and husband Patrick Penisten of Oklahoma and childhood friend Richard Prieto.
