It is with great sadness we announce that Joseph Alton Dean Jr, born June 22, 1946, passed away September 5th, 2018 at the age of 72.

Joseph (Joe) made a career of 47 years in the Grocery business, a bulk of that time spent at the Alpha Beta/SuperMax store located on East Alisal St. in Salinas. In 2010, Joe finally retired where he was able to spend more time with his grandkids and continue tinkering around the house. Joe was famously known for his annual Christmas decorations, where most of the acre of property they owned had some Christmas Decoration on it. Every fence, the house, storage shed, the lawn, the horses lean-to…everything decorated! People would specifically come out to his house on Cross Road just to see it! Besides spending time with his grandkids, which was no doubt is favorite pastime, he enjoyed morning coffee with other retiree’s, going target shooting, building things, furniture upholstery, listening to the Blues and playing games on his ipad! Joe also enjoyed attend alumni events at Bishop Garcia Diego High School in Santa Barbara, where he graduated in 1964. In 2017, he and his wife moved to Henderson Nevada, finally leaving California behind!

Joe is preceded in death by his Father, Joseph A. Dean Sr, his Mother, Frances A. Dean of Santa Barbara, Ca and his Brother Michael W. Dean of Orting, Washington.

He is survived by his Wife of 42 years, Ronnette (Ronnie) L. Dean, of Henderson, Nevada, his Sister – Pat Barnes of Lompoc, Ca and his Sister – Monica Young of Bakersfield, Ca. He is also survived by 3 son’s, Eric J. Dean of Alexandria, Va, Scott W. Bump of San Miguel, Ca and Michael R. Bump of Jacksonville, Fl. as well as 4 Granddaughters and 4 Grandsons.

Celebration of life is scheduled for October 20th, 2018 at 1pm at Crossroads Christian Church – 1035 Rogge Rd in Salinas, Ca.
